The Maltese authorities have managed to identify the last two Moroccans who fled from a Turkish Airlines plane on New Year’s Eve at Malta airport.

According to the Iberian press, the two individuals sought are Fouad Salah, aged 26, and Mohamed Lazaar, aged 43. They were part of a group of five Moroccan passengers on a flight from Istanbul to Marrakech.

One of the Moroccan passengers reportedly claimed to suffer a sudden illness, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing at Malta airport. Taking advantage of the preparations to evacuate the passenger “ sick » of the plane, other Moroccan passengers opened the rear door of the plane, jumped onto the tarmac, climbed the airport fence and fled.

A few hours after their escape, the Maltese authorities had already arrested two of them and sent them back to Morocco, at the same time as the passenger who feigned illness as well as the other passengers of the plane, which was initially supposed to land at the Marrakech-Menara airport.

According to the same sources, the Maltese authorities are still looking for Fouad Salah and Mohamed Lazaar. They published their photos and asked citizens to help them locate and find them.
