NHL: a first win for Louis Domingue since November 2023

The New York Rangers scored five unanswered goals and had the upper hand against the Blackhawks on Sunday at the United Center in Chicago.

This victory also marks the first for goalie Louis Domingue in the NHL since November 9, 2023.

The Quebecer was recalled last week by the Rangers due to Igor Shesterkin’s injury. He stopped 25 pucks.

He also became the fourth Blueshirts goaltender in the last 25 years to get two wins in his first two starts. The others are Igor Shesterkin, in 2019-20, Antti Raanta, in 2015-16, and Mackenzie Skapski, in 2014-15.

Filip Chytil scored two goals in the victory, which was the second in seven games for the Rangers. Adam Fox, Ryan Lindgren and Brett Berard each had two assists.

Tyler Bertuzzi gave the Hawks the lead. The latter scored 25 times first in a game, an NHL high. However, they are in last place in the general classification.

After an excellent start against the Canadiens on Friday, Arvid Soderblom had more difficulty this time allowing six goals on 34 shots.

Jonny Brodzinski, Will Borgen, Reilly Smith and Vincent Trocheck were the others who beat Soderblom.

Wyatt Kaider scored the first goal of his career in the defeat.
