Ten years after the Islamist attack which struck it, Charlie Hebdo is releasing a special issue on Tuesday January 7, on the precise date of an anniversary which is also the subject of numerous tributes, with special broadcasts and a string of . In this special 32-page issue, the satirical weekly will publish caricatures selected during an international competition launched until mid-December. Called “#RireDeDieu”, its aim is to denounce “the influence of all religions” on society, according to Charlie. The editorial team will also give the results of a survey on the question: is still Charlie? Twelve people lost their lives on January 7, 2015 in the attack by the Kouachi brothers on the weekly, the target of jihadist threats since the publication of caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad in 2006. Other Islamist attacks cost the life of a policewoman the next day in and four people of Jewish faith in a kosher grocery store at Porte de on January 9.

Books for memory

In December, Charlie Hebdo already released the book “Charlie Liberté, the diary of their life” published by Les Echappés, to celebrate the work of the eight members of the editorial team who were cut down on January 7: the cartoonists Cabu, Charb, Honoré, Tignous and Wolinski, the psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Elsa Cayat, the economist Bernard Maris and the proofreader Mustapha Ourrad.

Furthermore, several books participate in this commemoration in their own way. Thus the association “Cartooning for peace” joined forces with Gallimard to publish “Tenir la ligne, 40 drawings for Charlie”, in the Tracts collection. In the form of a pamphlet, the journalist Daniel Schneidermann deplores in “Le Charlisme” (at Le Seuil from January 10) the disappearance of the original Charlie spirit. Finally, the Cherche Midi editions are reissuing “Toujours aussi idiots!” by Cabu and “Fou d’amour” by Wolinski.
