Tunisia – Béja: five victims of a gas leak, including a 10-day-old baby

Yesterday, five people, including an infant aged only 10 days, were injured following a gas leak in a house located in the Maaqoula region, Beja governorate.
According to a source from Beja Civil Protection, cited by the TAP agency, the victims were urgently evacuated to the Beja regional hospital aboard ambulances. Preliminary investigation indicates that gas escaped from the bathroom during use, causing poisoning.
Initially, a young woman aged 20, sister of the owner of the house, was seriously affected. Her life was put in danger before the gas claimed other victims: a 40-year-old mother and her three children, aged 11 years, 10 years, and 10 days respectively.
It is important to remember that with the arrival of winter, the governorate of Beja has already recorded two deaths linked to gas leaks, which occurred in the Amdoun region. Furthermore, more than ten people were injured in similar accidents in various neighborhoods of the city of Beja.
