Barcelona kicked off its Copa del Rey campaign on Saturday with a 4-0 victory over fourth division side Barbastro, advancing to the round of 16. Striker Robert Lewandowski scored twice, scoring before and after the break. Defender Eric Garcia opened the scoring for Barça with a powerful header in the 21st minute, before Lewandowski added a second goal ten minutes later, heading home a cross from close range.
The Polish striker scored a third goal in the 47th minute and Pablo Torre made it 4-0 after capitalizing on an error by Barbastro goalkeeper Arnau Fabrega. The victory brought coach Hansi Flick to the 100th victory of his coaching career, while rookie Wojciech Szczesny made his debut in goal for the Catalan club.
Barcelona, which faces Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final on Wednesday, rested striker Raphinha, while midfielder Marc Casado and defender Alejandro Balde remained on the bench.
