Weather Alert: freezing rain makes Côte-d’Or roads dangerous

The Côte-d’Or is currently experiencing particularly difficult weather conditions. An Orange snow and ice alert was triggered by Météo France, warning of an episode of freezing rain likely to affect the entire department between 6 p.m. and midnight.

The roads are particularly slippery, making traffic very difficult, even impossible in places. Salting operations are underway on Beaunois and the A38 motorway, where traffic is severely disrupted in the Pouilly-en-Auxois direction towards Dijon.

The A31 motorway is particularly affected by this bad weather. Several accidents were reported by Autoroute info, particularly in the direction of Nancy where several vehicles were damaged near Nuits-Saint-Georges. In the opposite direction, two cars broke down on the emergency lane after the Gevrey-Chambertin rest area.

On the A6 motorway, towards Lyon, the situation is just as critical. Four vehicles were involved in an accident shortly after the Beaune Tailly area, leading to the closure of the motorway while emergency services intervened.

Faced with this situation, the authorities are calling for the greatest caution. It is strongly recommended to postpone any non-essential travel and, if you must travel, to equip your vehicle with winter tires and to leave a significant safety distance between vehicles.
