The president of FC Barcelona was absent today from the reception at the Barbastro town hall and the lunch of the members of the board of directors due to problems related to the recordings of Olmo and Víctor.

Joan Laporta is struggling to keep up. His inability to delegate and the lack of qualified professionals around him left him virtually alone to handle all matters. This obvious personal approach and lack of resources transformed his daily life into a real maelstrom, consuming him. Since the controversy surrounding Daniel Olmo and Víctor broke out, the president’s days have become marathons, and unfortunately, in many cases, unproductive. What concerns Barça fans most are the registration problems of Olmo and Víctor, as the club submitted the necessary documents out of time to re-register them, leading LaLiga and the RFEF to decide uniformly to deregister the players, leading to significant consequences both for the individuals involved and for the team which traveled to Barbastro on Saturday without these two key players.

In fact, Joan Laporta took the opportunity this morning to speak directly to Olmo and Pau. As reported by AS, the Blaugrana president did not visit the locker room on Friday when he stopped at the Ciutat Esportiva. This brief trip had only one objective: to speak with Hansi Flick before his press conference in order to define the general story. An address which remained on a positive note from the German coach, although twelve hours later LaLiga and the RFEF dashed Barça’s hopes.

The need for the president to explain the situation to the two players involved ultimately led to his absence from the reception planned at the Barbastro town hall as well as the board members’ lunch. Laporta was focused on reassuring the two players, who see their chances of playing for FC Barcelona this season dwindling with each passing day.

Laporta, who is expected to arrive just in time for his team’s first Copa match, will face another challenge in the coming hours: publicly explaining to members the reasons for Olmo and Pau’s non-registration. Meanwhile, the opposition is already sharpening its knives…
