Southampton are not having a great season. However, it feels like a broken record saying this, so let’s try not to look at the position in the table and instead, focus on “having fun” between now and the end of the season.
Yes, Southampton will probably get relegated this season… But the players should at least go down with a fight. The second half of the season /has/ to be better than the start of the season, doesn’t it?
Anyway, let’s hope for at least a half-decent display in today’s match. Here’s our predicted Southampton lineup vs Brentford…
GK – Aaron Ramsdale. Rambo has been a saving grace for Southampton this season and while it’s not his fault, his absence was definitely felt. It’s good to have him back.
CB – Taylor Harwood-Bellis. Having started almost every match for Premier League this season, this match will be no different.
CB – Jan Bednarek. He’s seen Southampton in many positions, but this must be one of the worst Southampton teams Bednarek has played in. Nevertheless, he’ll hope to lead them to a good result here.
-CB – Nathan Wood. Juric has started Wood in his first two games in charge, so he’s getting a nice run-out.
RWB – James Bree. Played well during his first start under Ivan Juric, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Bree given another chance here.
CM – Flynn Downes. Facing a late fitness assessment before facing Brentford, it would be great to have Downes back in the lineup, especially since Fernandes is suspended.
CF – Tyler Dibling. Playing just behind the two strikers will be Tyler Dibling. Hopefully, he’ll act as the midfield to attack anchor and come up with a few chances.
