The year 2024 was full of events at La Ferté-Gaucher.
Society, news items, culture… The editorial staff of Briard Country summarizes you the highlights which have marked the last twelve months.
January 2024: a new florist sets up in the city center
In January, a new merchant has opened its doors at 12 place du Général-de-Gaulle. This is Tom, a young florist who now welcomes his customers to his “Quatre Saisons” boutique.
We find there all types of flowers : green plants, cut, dried, seasonal flowers, but also floral arrangements for events.
It is also possible to find handicraft productsdesigned by Tom: candles, home fragrances, car diffusers, etc.
February 2024: the first floods in the La Ferté-Gaucher sector
Six years after the last floods which affected the area, the Grand Morin rose from its bed for the very first time of the year on the night of February 26 to 27.
In La Ferté-Gaucher and the surrounding communities, many residents and traders were strongly impacted by rising water levels .
March: MuMo passing through town
This was the exhibition not to be missed this year. THE modern and contemporary art truck MuMoopened its doors to the residents of La Ferté-Gaucher for three days in March.
He presented the exhibition “Living Beings”imagined by the Center Pompidou, and the works created by Fertois schoolchildren during his stay in town.
April: the first meeting for the return of the train to La Ferté-Gaucher
The public lecture organized on April 6 at the Halle aux Veaux, brought together more than sixty residents concerned by the project to reopen the Coulommiers/La Ferté-Gaucher railway section.
If a good majority of participants present at the conference seemed in favor of the return of the train to the town, the fears of the most skepticalcould also be discussed.
May: opening of the pop-up store
At the beginning of May, the city center welcomed another new business. And not just any one since it is a pop-up shop.
The principle? Do discover the creations of local artisans. “It’s something that was close to our hearts. We had already opened a test store two years ago and it worked very well,” explained Michel Jozon the mayor of La Ferté-Gaucher.
May: the Remoove show at Aérosphalte
After a day dedicated to professionals at the CCI of Seine-et-Marne in Serris, the Remoove show made a stop at the La Ferté-Gaucher circuit for two days open to the public.
Thematic villages, introductions in electric cars, track for electric bicycles and scooters… Organized in May, this large gathering centered on sustainable mobility met with great success among the most curious.
August: Brie once again under water
Six months after the first floods, the Grand Morin rose again after an episode of intense rain on the night of 1is to August 2 in the La Ferté-Gaucher sector.
In total, 514 requests for reliefwere recorded for the entire department. Several boats and a helicopter were mobilized: in the sector, they carried out 14 rescues and 26 safetyand.
August-September: Louis Hardouin at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games
Louis Hardouin an athlete from Chartronges, participated in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, organized from August 28 to September 8, with the French wheelchair basketball team.
September: Roxane Decoudier, appointed 1st deputy mayor
In September, Dominique Frichet, the former 1re deputy mayor, passed the torch to Roxane Decoudier.
The municipal councilor delegate since 2020 and teacher at the Grand Morin elementary school since 2014, has been unanimously elected with 22 votes out of 22 voters. She was the only candidateto become first assistant.
October: Storm Kirk hits Seine-et-Marne
For the third time of the year, on the morning of October 10, the inhabitants of the canton of La Ferté-Gaucher once again woke up with their feet in the water… The Grand Morin overflowed following the heavy rains caused by the storm Kirk.
December: Tony dresser closed its doors
After twenty years of dressing Fertois with passion, the men’s clothing boutique, Tony Habilleur, closed its doors for good on December 31.
Sad news which marked Tony’s retirementthe manager, very appreciated by all the people who may have crossed his path. Tony Dresser was one of the oldest current businesses in the townhe settled in the Fertoise city in 2004.
