Preview: January 3 Game – Senators vs. Blues

The Ottawa Senators will face the St. Louis Blues tonight at 8 p.m. (ET), in the second portion of their two-games-in-two-night series. The Senators will try to get back to winning ways after a 4-2 loss to the Dallas Stars last night.

Fans can watch tonight’s game on RDS 2 or TSN5, or listen live on the radio on Unique FM or TSN 1200.

Last night, the Senators played their first game against the Dallas Stars this season, but were unable to win, losing 4-2. Forwards Brady Tkachuk and Ridly Greig both scored for the Senators – just 24 seconds apart – but the Stars responded with three unanswered goals to complete the comeback.

Tonight’s meeting will be the second and final duel between the Senators and the Blues this season and the Ottawa team will be looking to repeat their successes obtained during their first clash, earlier this year.

In the first game between the two teams this season, on October 29, the Senators easily won 8 to 1. Tim Stützle had two goals and two assists for a four-point evening, while four players from the Senators had a two-point outing, namely Drake Batherson (two assists), Adam Gaudette (two goals), Claude Giroux (two assists) and Brady Tkachuk (two goals). Forwards Noah Gregor and Josh Norris were the other scorers for the Senators, while goaltender Linus Ullmark made 26 saves for an efficiency rating of .963.

Tonight’s game will be the Blues’ first in 2025, as their last game was played on Tuesday, December 31 against the Chicago Blackhawks as part of the NHL Winter Classic. The Blues won 6-2 and will try to maintain the pace in this evening’s meeting, looking for a second victory in a row.

The Senators did not have a practice this morning, but goaltender Anton Forsberg is expected to get the start in net. He would see action for the first time since December 8, when the Senators faced the New York Islanders.

Last season, the St. Louis Blues swept the Senators in their two-game series. This evening, visitors will have the opportunity to return the favor.
