HAS On the occasion of Epiphany, some bakeries show creativity and hide precious surprises in their cakes.
When tasting the traditional galette des rois, the pleasure is still intact when you have the bean. What if you won a gold bar this year, or even a diamond, in addition to the traditional bean and crown? RMC Conso has spotted two initiatives for you that may allow you to hit the jackpot, while having fun.
For example, around forty French bakeries, in partnership with the Comptoir national de l’or, are offering the chance to win a real five-gram gold ingot (23.3 mm long by 14 mm wide), the value of which is estimated between 440 and 460 euros, depending on the evolution of world gold prices.
“To participate, it’s simple! You have to go to a bakery/pastry shop partnering with the operation, buy a galette des rois and scan the QR code found on the galette bag”, it is explained on the site of the organism.
After scanning it, simply register for the competition, organized until January 31. The draw will take place in February and there will be one winner per bakery.

Two diamonds worth 850 euros to be won
But this unusual initiative is not the only one. In the Pyrénées-Orientales, two bakers, a father and his son, have also hidden two beans which will allow them to win two diamonds worth 850 euros each.
To try to win the precious gem, you have to go to Cabestany and Saint-Estève, to the Pains du Soleil bakeries. It’s a bean with the words “it’s won” that you will have to find, to then collect the certified stone in one of the two bakeries.
Little hint: the winning beans will be slipped at random either into a traditional frangipane pancake, or into a kingdom (the brioche king cake in the shape of a crown). Participants have the whole month of January to purchase a cake.
