Almost three weeks since Cyclone Chido swept through Mayotte. This was the case on December 14, and since then, the island has struggled to rebuild itself. The latest report shows 39 mots and of 4,000 injured.
A draft “emergency law” will be presented to the Council of Ministers next week to meet the requirements of the “Mayotte standing” plan, desired by French Bayrou. For its part, La Poste also wishes to make its contribution.
Since Thursday January 2, 2025, the group markets a stamp to help the Mahorais.
For the Red Cross
Sold at the price of 2,39 euros by the postal service company, it undertakes to donate one euro to the Red Cross.
-With a green Marianne and the words “Solidarity for Mayotte”, this is the fourth time that La Poste has issued a donations stamp in the last twenty years.
After the tsunami that hit Asia in 2004 or the earthquake in Haiti in 2010 and Russia's invasion of Ukraine, La Poste is showing solidarity with Mayotte.
How to get the stamp?
For all people who wish to donate for a good cause or all philatelists, it is possible to acquire this stamp in post offices (in all municipalities in France where there is one) and on the group's website. But also in more specific places like the Parisian boutique The Ink Squareau Postal Museum in Paris and even by phone au 05 53 03 19 26.
Also, La Poste and its subsidiaries Geopost, Banque Postale and CNP Assurances have already released 200,000 euros. The Red Cross assured Monday December 30, 2024, through its president, Philippe Da Costa, that it had already received 5 million euros.
