In the middle of the day this Thursday, January 2, a 23-year-old man was killed during an altercation between several people at Saint-Laud station, in the center of Angers. For now, the suspects are still being sought.
Travelers from Maine-et-Loire witnessed a terrible scene. This Thursday, shortly before 1 p.m., an argument broke out between several people on the upper square of Saint-Laud station, in Angers. An altercation which caused the death of a 23-year-old individual, the city’s public prosecutor, Éric Bouillard, told AFP.
The young man found himself “faced with four people”, including two attackers “armed with hammers” and took refuge in the station, where he was hit with “several blows with one or more blunt objects”, according to the magistrate, specifying that an investigation had been opened for murder.
Despite the intervention of emergency services, the young man succumbed to his injuries. So far, no suspects have been arrested.

“We will not give in to violence. Our city must be safe, everyone must be able to live there in safety. Justice must be as firm as possible with the murderers,” reacted the former Minister of the Environment.
The investigation was handed over to the Organized and Specialized Crime Division. An autopsy must be carried out this Friday, January 3.
