Sixth in the Spanish championship and second in its group in the Eurocup, Gran Canaria announced this Friday the signing of French leader Mehdy Ngouama for a period of one month, with an option to finish the season with the club based in Las Palmas.
“He completes the rotation, which has been undermined in recent times by the injury problems of several players,” explains Gran Canaria in a press release. This is particularly the case of Andrew Albicy, holder of the lead and victim of a strained biceps femoris.
After winning the Leaders Cup and the Eurocup in 2024 with Paris Basketball, Mehdy Ngouama started the season with JL Bourg, with whom he played twelve matches before terminating his contract at the beginning of November. He then landed a freelance medical contract with Le Mans (11.4 points and 1.8 assists), where he replaced Abdoulaye Ndoye for five games in December.
Mehdy Ngouama will not discover the Spanish championship, since he has already played there during the 2022-2023 season with Fuenlabrada, averaging 8.1 points, 2 rebounds and 2.1 assists in eleven games.
