The new phase of work at the Saint-Pierre Cathedral of Valves (Morbihan) at the beginning of 2025 pushes the parish to relocate masses to two other Vannes buildings. Here they are.
The Saint-Yves chapel
“We are going to become a “parish outside the walls” for a few months while continuing to take care of each of the living stones that we are within our beautiful parish community. The Saint-Yve chapels will be our new HQ,” says Father Patrice Marivin.
So, from January 6, 2025and for at least 24 months, the services and celebrations will be held at the Saint-Yves chapel.
What to remember:
Between 24 and 27 months of work at Vannes Cathedral with the restoration of the nave and chapels
Relocation to two locations: to the Saint-Yves chapel, for weekday masses, as well as those on Saturday evening (6:30 p.m.) and Sunday evening (6:00 p.m. or 7 p.m. summer time) and to the Saint chapel -François-Xavier, for Sunday masses from 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Two masses at Saint-François-Xavier
For reasons of capacity at the Saint-Yves chapel (300 places), Sunday masses (except that on Sunday evening) will take place at the Saint-François-Xavier chapel.
The first mass will be Sunday, January 12 at 9:30 a.m. A second mass will take place at 11 a.m. The mass in sign language broadcast on YouTube will continue to be recorded.
The religious building near the port of Vannes can accommodate between 600 and 800 places. Entrance on foot is via rue du Drezen. For parishioners with a vehicle, they can park within the high school grounds by returning via rue Joseph Sauveur.
Weddings can take place in both buildings. “For now, we have already scheduled 17 weddings in 2025. The Saint-Yves chapel is popular,” says Father Marivin.
