After 27 years spent in the heart of the most famous avenue in the world, Fnac on the Champs-Élysées is preparing to close its doors for good. Opened in 1997, the store with a surface area of 2,900 m² bows out on January 12, 2025. Before leaving 74, avenue des Champs-Élysées, the brand is organizing an XXL clearance sale from January 3 to 12, 2025 to empty its stocks! This morning, customers came in large numbers to take advantage of discounts on smartphones, vinyl records, stationery and video games.
Why is Fnac on the Champs-Elysées closing?
To justify the closure of this site, as we indicated last March, Fnac Darty cites a general increase in fixed costs, in particular a particularly high rent. The group also highlights a drop in turnover, linked to the evolution of the avenue's clientele, which is increasingly international and oriented towards luxury. Despite several initiatives to revitalize the store, the group decided to end the adventure.
101 people work in this store and each employee will be offered an equivalent position, according to their preferred choice, in another Fnac store in Paris (Ternes, Saint-Lazare, Forum des Halles, Montparnasse or Beaugrenelle).
