The cold air invades the north of France, not sparing Paris and the Ile de France, placed on snow-ice alert this Friday, January 3.
After the rain on Thursday, comes the ice. Temperatures continue to cool, leading Météo-France to place around thirty departments, including those of Île-de-France, on yellow “snow-ice” vigilance this Friday, January 3.
Paris and Île-de-France under surveillance
All of the Ile-de-France departments – Paris, Seine-et-Marne, Yvelines, Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis, Val-de-Marne and Val-d'Oise – are affected by this alert.
If no snowfall is forecast in Paris for the moment, Météo France warns against the formation of patches of ice, particularly during the night from Thursday to Friday, with temperatures close to 0°C, or even negative in Seine-et-Marne and in Yvelines. During the night from Friday to Saturday, Parisian temperatures will continue to cool, and should not exceed 0°C on Saturday morning.
However, the cold should not settle in the capital. Indeed, according to the Weather Channel, a spectacular mild spell is expected on Sunday in the regions of the northern half, causing maximum temperatures to rise by around ten degrees.
Vigilance (and) blood
Due to the rain observed this Thursday and in addition to the risk of snow and ice, three departments in the region are also placed on yellow “flood” alert. This is the case of Val-d'Oise, Yvelines, and Seine-et-Marne.
