Matt Hamill, a former UFC fighter known for his controversial victory over Jon Jones in 2009, recently shared emotional news regarding his birth deafness.

In 2009, during The Ultimate Fighter season 10, Matt Hamill faced Jon Jones. Although Jon Jones dominated the fight, he was disqualified for using illegal elbows in the 12-6 position, giving Hamill a controversial victory.

Recently, the Association of Boxing Commissions (ABC) legalized elbows in the 12-6 position, leading Matt Hamill to challenge Jon Jones for a rematch. He called out UFC CEO Dana White on social media, suggesting that the latter wanted to erase the only defeat on Jones’ record. Hamill proposed a high-stakes fight, although Jones has yet to respond publicly to that proposal. ‘Bones’ is unlikely to follow through on these statements, as he currently appears focused on a clash with one Tom Aspinall.

Matt Hamill starts the year with some good news

Matt Hamill, born completely deaf, overcame many obstacles to become a respected figure in the world of MMA. His inspiring career was even the subject of a 2010 film called The Hammer.

In a social media post, Hamill expressed his joy: “ I just received the most powerful digital hearing aids ever made. For the first time in 41 years, I can finally hear my children’s voices, the sounds of people walking and laughing. I finally heard my mother’s voice and she cried. I can’t wait to hear my brother Pat’s voice too. I just hope he doesn’t sound like a foghorn. It’s amazing, although I know it will take me time to adjust to all of this. Good year ! »

The combat sports community reacted enthusiastically to Hamill’s announcement of his new hearing ability, praising his resilience and inspiring journey.
