The Amazigh cultures is the base on which theMoroccan identity. And it is not surprising to note the growing interest of Moroccans in this heritage heritage, which continues to flourish visibly. From the poetryto the choreographyfrom symbols to costumes, each expression of this culture carries virtuous values ​​that have traveled through time.

This wealth will be highlighted from January 15 to 19, as part of the Afous Afous Festivalthrough a diversified program made up of musical performances,expositions d’artof literary encountersd’creative workshops and of cinema screenings.

The “Afous Afous” Festival opens on a captivating musical note with the duo Sarah and Ishmaëlin the evening of January 15, at Theater 121. Armed with their “bendir”, their guitar and their captivating voices, these two artists shine with their modern reinterpretation of Amazigh songs. Their contemporary arrangements mixing jazz, funk, soul et pop appeal to a wide audience Morocco like in the world. Another moment not to be missed: on January 18, the Institute garden will vibrate to the rhythm ofAhwachthe emblematic dance of Amazigh traditions from 6 p.m.

Side visual artsvarious exhibitions will take place and will continue until February 9. There we will discover the fruit of the residency “Crossed perspectives on the finery of the Amazigh woman” ofIlham Fouwad and Cami, which highlights the traditional clothing and artisanal know-how of the Amazigh tribes like the Ayt Wawzguit and the Ida Ou-Clean. Femininity and Berber tattoo are at the heart of the sculptures of Aïcha Abouhajthe multidisciplinary artist from Casablanca. Finally, White Angel presents a collection of Amazigh costumes that provide a fascinating insight into the stylistic diversity of the Amazigh regions.

Meetings and workshops

The “Afous Afous” Festival will also be an opportunity to meet experts in Amazigh culture, for conferences and various debates. The academic Nadia Kaaouas will present a presentation on “Intangible heritage in the digital age”. The author Hassan Fourrat will explore orality and its role in the transmission of culture. And for comic strip fans, an appointment is made with the artists of the Alkhariqun collective.

The Festival will also be an opportunity to indulge in workshops for adults and youth, to explore more closely the richness of Amazigh culture. An introduction to the alphabet and writing Tifinagh will be sounded by Mohamed Toumi. The death of El Gadi will give a story writing workshop, while the visual artist Latifa En Najari will offer a workshop on Amazigh philosophy. Un photocall Cosplay Amazigh, des board gamesworkshops puppet… The creative program extends over the last four days of the festival, unleashing creativity around Amazigh culture.

Throughout the Festival, the solidarity market will offer products ofcraftsmanshiphighlighting Amazigh know-how in the making of jewelryof textileobjects of decoration and food products: an opportunity to discover hidden treasures ofMoroccan crafts and support a sustainable local economy.
