“Good morning !” (TF1): Bruce Toussaint comes out of silence after rumors of tensions in the team

On January 8, Good morning ! TF1 morning show will blow out its very first candle. A year ago, Bruce Toussaint took the reins of this new program, which quickly established itself.

If the show now seems to know a real successits beginnings were, however, somewhat chaotic.

Good morning ! : complicated beginnings

At launch, Bonjour ! had attracted 512,000 viewers, or 15.3% of the public, rather promising figures for a fledgling program. But as is often the case in the world of television, the first weeks were more difficult and audiences fell, with around 279,000 curious people in front of their screens, a sign that the show was struggling to convince in the long term.

Luckily, Bonjour ! was able to raise the bar. So much so that today, the program brings together around 305,000 viewers, or 9.6% of the public, according to information from Tele-Leisure. A nice journey for this show which was able to find its rhythm and its audience, in particular thanks to the dynamic and engaging presentation of Bruce Toussaint, but also thanks to a lot of in-depth work.

Every day felt like we were starting from scratch.“, even confided an anonymous source in the columns of Parisian. And faced with such an uncertain situation, tensions would have emerged within the editorial staff. “We stopped reacting to everyone's columns and had to prepare much more rhythmic interventions over a very precise time. And between the audiences and the media pressure, it sometimes got loud“.

Bruce Toussaint: “I didn’t feel any particular tension”

Fortunately, the electric atmosphere has greatly improved and the last assessment of the show was rather “positive“. Moreover, Bruce Toussaint recently assured Tele-Leisure that everything is now going well in the best of all possible worlds.

I didn't feel any particular tensionhe indicated. Everyone understood perfectly. We're all in this together and that's a reality.. (…) We lived these first months in a very united way with kindness. I'm very happy that all this was managed and accepted by the team.

For 2025, Bruce Toussaint even has a project: to become the second morning show in terms of viewers. “This is the goal we set for ourselves, with no time limit. It's a long-term job, but I'm in no hurry“. It remains to be seen whether the journalist will achieve his goal before 2026!
