Four teams will fight for a title. Inter Milan and Atalanta Bergamo launch the 2024 edition of the Italian Super Cup this Thursday (8 p.m.), played for the occasion in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia). After this duel between Lombard clubs, AC Milan and Juventus will face each other on Friday (8 p.m.).

For the fifth time relocated to Saudi Arabia, the Italian Super Cup does not lack attraction. It brings together in the first semi-final the two best Italian teams of the moment, namely Inter Milan (3e40 pts) and Atalanta (1re41 pts) who are neck and neck in the championship with Naples as referee (2e41 pts).

Atalanta wants to fill its trophy cabinet

Inter, the reigning Italian champion, has won the last three editions of the competition and can gain a psychological advantage over Atalanta in the race for the Serie A title. But the Dea would see themselves win a third trophy to their list of achievements after an Italian Cup and, since May 22, the Europa League.

“We are facing the strongest team in our championship, it is an important test to see if we are progressing,” warned Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini, whose team won eleven consecutive victories in the league, before being stopped on Saturday by Lazio (1-1).

The second semi-final, Friday, will pit two teams against each other who disappointed in the first leg: AC Milan, vice-champion of Italy 2024, is 14 points behind Atalanta, while Juve by Thiago Motta has only lost one match this season, but has collected draws which relegate it to 6e place.

Milan will be led for the first time by its new Portuguese coach Sérgio Conceição who took over on Monday from his compatriot Paulo Fonseca, dismissed after only six months on the bench.
