Russian bombings did not spare the civilian population in Ukraine at the start of the year. A couple of scientists were notably killed in the center of the capital.

Rescuers were still working Thursday in Kyiv's Pechersk neighborhood, where local authorities reported Russian strikes left two people dead and six injured the day before.

Other deadly strikes across the country
