UEFA Index: France, not bad for a Farmers League

Double opposition between French and English clubs this Tuesday in the Champions League. Monaco got the better of Aston Villa (1-0) while narrowly lost to numerically inferior Liverpool (2-1). Nothing to be ashamed of for the French clubs, who continue to do well this season in the European Cup. Thus, still occupies 7th place in the current season, in particular due to very good performances from Portugal and Belgium. But the gap is closing, and the points will start to become rare with the tough matches that arrive.

In the ranking of the last five seasons, the one which counts to designate the places in the Champions League, France is still warm in 5th position, behind the four major championships, and far in front of the Netherlands with 5 points ahead. Note that, thanks to its first place in the Champions League phase, Liverpool could earn up to 12 bonus points for England in the event of a full card. A new record of its kind which will propel England higher than ever in the UEFA index.
