Dave Cameron doesn’t know what he’s doing

Everything about Junior Team Canada this year is negative.

It started with the many players excluded from the tournament (including those who didn’t take it) and there, it was the team’s ugly performances that caught the attention of Canadians.

The Canadians’ indiscipline, effort and ability to score goals is not up to par. It shows.

You might think that being managed by Dave Cameron doesn’t help. Yesterday, my colleague Pablo Herrera was quite clear on this subject: Canada’s coach is simply lost, he who does not know what to do to keep his team disciplined.

And let’s say that it’s not what’s coming that will allow my colleague to vent.

First, we learned that this morning, a few hours before a match that Canada must win to stay alive (quarter-final at 7:30 p.m. this evening against the Czechs), that practice had been canceled.

This has been the case for two days in a row since yesterday too, after the setback against the Americans, it was canceled.

Cameron, who also canceled a practice earlier in the tournament (after the loss against the Latvians), has not had his guys skate since last year, since the loss against the United States on December 31.

How can he practice his team bad if he doesn’t make the guys skate? Is he trying to reinvent hockey or does he have a good reason to look lost? I ask you.

Dave Cameron is therefore criticized for this. Scott Wheeler, prospects expert for The Athletic, says a pro coach texted him this morning to ask why the Canadiens never skated.

We are there.

But it goes even further than that since during the day’s skating session for the goalkeepers and extras (they were the only ones who skated this morning), we saw Carson Rehkopf, one of the club’s best players.

He therefore lines up to miss the match of the day, which is of the type must-win.

We have to wonder if he’s injured. And if he is not, we have to wonder if coach Dave Cameron should give up his place as head coach in the coming hours to someone else.

We are there, I think.
