home delivery of meals, a daily social work

Céline Bonnière, the employee assigned to delivering meals in the Bazelle Service association, travels around 140 km every two days. In 2023, 12,514 meals will be delivered. For 2024, the figure will be higher.

Céline listens, helps, does what she can to find solutions piecemeal

Céline works with empathy and always keeps the right distance with her customers. The environments she visits are very different, she adapts. “ When they are a couple, there is a better balance in the management of the house. When the person is alone, they have more needs, shopping, home hygiene. Not everyone has the same openness to let strangers into their home, sometimes the possible help is not activated. » So Céline listens, helps, does what she can to find solutions piecemeal. For couples, she sometimes finds herself calming down a small, fleeting or even daily argument…

She takes the time to ask if the service suits them: “ Oh yes! Yesterday it was ham and potato croquettes, very good! Sometimes we have sardines, that's good too, it's very varied and the soup is always very good. »

The arrival at a gentleman's house shows Céline's finesse in her observations. “ He's not in the kitchen, yesterday's food is still in the fridge… It's not usual. » She gets worried and heads towards the bedroom. He's in bed, very tired, he says he's okay, but she knows he's not okay. The end of year holidays are not happy for everyone.

“I’m 85 years old, I’m tired of shopping”

Arriving at Pierre Baillivet is quite different. He welcomes Céline and asks her to sit down. “ I have been eating at Bazelle Service since August 2024 and I am very satisfied. » Only every other day, says the retiree. “ I continue to cook my own food from time to time. But what bothers me is that before cooking, you have to do the shopping… I'm 85, I'm tired of shopping. And then Bazelle Service provides me with menus that diversify and balance my diet, otherwise I would always eat the same thing, a good grilled steak! What I did this afternoon anyway. »

And then a visit is always good. The good humor and kindness of Céline and René (who does the tour on Wednesdays) are appreciated. “ They take their time, it's not a race and that's a good thing at our age, we don't know how to run anymore! “, testifies a lady.

The meals are transported in a refrigerated truck which is now showing the weight of the years.

Céline uses a refrigerated transport vehicle which is no longer in its infancy. A new vehicle will soon be delivered to the association. “ Recurring breakdowns are encroaching on the tranquility of the mission, it's time to change! »
