AFF Cup 2024 Final Match Schedule: Vietnam vs Thailand

The final match of the 2024 AFF Cup (ASEAN Cup) is a competition between the teams of Vietnam and Thailand. This is the third time the two teams have met in the Southeast Asian championship match. In the previous two editions, the Vietnamese team won in 2 and Thailand was crowned in 2008.

The final first leg took place at the Viet Tri Stadium (Phu-Tho) – the home ground of the Vietnamese team. The return match will take place at Rajamangala Stadium (Bangkok, Thailand). The away goals rule does not apply to the AFF Cup 2024. The team that scores the most goals after 2 matches will win the championship.

If the total score at the end of the second half of the second leg is still equal, the Vietnam and Thailand teams will play overtime. If both teams are still inconclusive, both teams will proceed to a penalty shootout to determine the AFF Cup 2 champion.

2024 AFF Cup Final Match Schedule

The Vietnamese team is the only team that has not lost a single match in the 2024 AFF Cup until the final match. Coach Kim Sang-sik and his team beat Laos, Indonesia, Myanmar in the group stage and Singapore twice in the semifinals. The Vietnamese team is also the team which concedes the fewest goals (twice).

Meanwhile, Thailand is the team that has scored the most goals in the tournament (22 goals). The Golden Temple team won the group stage (4 matches) by beating Timor Leste, Malaysia, Singapore and Cambodia. In the semi-final, Thailand lost to the Philippines in the first leg but turned things around in the second leg.
