Seven hydrogen buses caught fire in the middle of the night this Thursday, January 2, 2025 in Danjoutin (Territoire de Belfort). The fire has been brought under control and any danger of explosion is now over.

Charred carcasses, eaten by the flames and still under surveillance by firefighters. This is what remains of six of the seven hydrogen buses in the Belfort urban network, completely destroyed by a fire on the night of January 2. “The six buses, when we arrived, were completely engulfed in flames. So it was a massive water attack while protecting staff from the risk of explosion”says the commander of relief operations.

On amateur images, we hear the sounds of detonations which woke up several local residents. “The boom we heard, I thought I was going to have a heart attack”said a woman. Around 4 a.m., firefighters went to residents' homes to ask them not to leave their homes to avoid the risk of air pollution. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
