Hélène Ségara has come a long way! The singer has experienced health problems which have marked her career but especially her personal life… In 2013, she revealed that she suffered from a rare disease which affects her eye. This pathology, optic neuritis, caused partial loss of vision and required extensive treatment. The artist had to undergo regular corticosteroid injections and immunosuppressive treatments to slow the progression of the disease. Despite this ordeal, Hélène Ségara continued her career with determination, she was notably back on the jury for season 19 of has incredible talent alongside Sugar Sammy, Eric Antoine and Marianne James. Her transparency about her state of health has aroused the admiration and support of many of her fans, a need for the singer who spoke to our colleagues from Gala magazine on the occasion of the concert for her 30 years of career . Concerning her longevity, she explained that she was not “devoured by ambition”nor be a woman “strategic in his choices and his friendships”.

“I only made one promise to myself: that of not damaging myself, nor damaging others, in order to succeed. Lasting, growing old in front of an audience, especially for a woman, is difficult. I will not tire people .I will continue to sing, as long as I touch them”, she promised. The mother of three grown children also took the time to reflect on the relationship between her life as a woman and that as an artist Hélène Segara. Our colleagues from Gala who had the chance to meet Maya, the singer's daughter, born from her marriage to the musician Mathieu Lecat, describe her as a “very beautiful brown vine, which could appear on the cover of magazines”. “Little ones, my children have seen me cooking more often than in a celebrity dress. All three are now young adults. she began by confiding. And to talk about the latter a little more, something she very rarely does. “My eldest, Raphaël, works in cateringin . Matteo studies medicine in the United States. Maya is pursuing a course in psychology in Canada. Distance is not always easy to live with. But no parent is eternal, so I feel a certain satisfaction, a certain relief in seeing them become independent.”she detailed. Then to conclude on this point: “The most important thing for a mother is to leave behind strong children who feel good about themselves.”

Out of sight, close to the heart, they say? Although it is difficult for Hélène Ségara to live far from her children, she nevertheless maintains very close contact with them. HAS Galashe said: “I have adult discussions with all my children”. And to add after reflection: “I'm probably a little more scared for Maya, because she's a girl. I hope that no man will disrespect her, that she will not allow herself to be dominated. Love is not that. I never tried to be dominant. I never agreed to be dominated either.”. To our colleagues, she recognized that her children had taught her a lot. For example ? “That I shouldn't try to be perfect, that I couldn't carry everything on my shoulders. That I couldn't be a singer, a mother, a wife all at the same time. For a long time, I wanted to do that to them believe me. she concluded.
