Aaron Rodgers (Jets): ‘Sunday may be my last NFL game!’

NFL – New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers could retire after Sunday’s game… or not!

What if the game in Week 18 of the 2024 season was the last of Aaron Rodgers’ career? Recovered from a serious Achilles tendon injury that occurred during the first game of the 2023 regular season, the former Green Bay Packers quarterback returned to competition during this 2024 season but had a particularly disappointing season with only 4 victories on the clock for his New York Jets team.

The question therefore clearly arises: at 41 years old, does Aaron Rodgers still have the abilities and the desire to perform in the NFL for one more season? A question to which the main party does not yet seem to have an answer. In the meantime, Rodgers admits that he “knows perfectly well” that Sunday’s game may be his last in the NFL and that he will make a decision on the rest of his career before the launch of free agency next March:

“I know that this game against Miami may be the last of my career in the NFL,” said Aaron Rodgers. “I need a break mentally. I want to make my decision before free agency in March but I need to rest mentally and physically to make the best possible decision. »

In addition to the question of the continuation of Aaron Rodgers’ career, that of the continuation of his adventure also arises with the New York Jets. Because it is not completely excluded that the forty-year-old quarterback will take charge of another franchise before retiring. A decision which will, according to Rodgers, be taken in consultation with the New York franchise which is preparing to make big changes in the coming months and which could decide whether or not to change quarterback.

10 times selected to the Pro Bowl, 4 times elected MVP of the regular season and once winner of the Super Bowl, Aaron Rodgers will have had a long career of at least 20 years. A career which could therefore end this Sunday and which would once again turn a page on the sacred monsters at the quarterback position of the years 2000-2010. But with Rodgers, everyone knows: a twist is always to be expected…
