Marie Bouzkova qualified for the quarter-finals of the WTA 500 in Brisbane, winning two sets to zero (6-4, 6-4) against Belarusian Victoria Azarenka, seeded n°10. A very good performance of just over 2 hours for the Czech who starts her season with two very good victories.
Bouzkova, 44th WTA player in the world, will face the winner of the upcoming match between Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, seeded No. 1, and Kazakhstani Yulia Putintseva, seeded No. 15 in the quarter-finals of the tournament of Queensland.
Marie Bouzkova won against Australian wild card Talia Gibson (7-6 [5]3-6, 6-3), and against the Latvian Jelena Ostapenko, seeded n°7 (7-6, 6-4), before her victory against Azarenka, 20th in the world at the WTA, on Thursday.
The 35-year-old Belarusian beat Australian wild card Maya Joint in three sets (6-7 [5]6-2, 6-4).
