We are not playing this weekend in the different divisions of our football, but some of the clubs have organized friendly matches. This is the case of RAEC Mons which takes the opportunity to welcome FC Liège.
Albert de Mons is currently leader of D1 ACFF with 37 points, one more than Olympic Charleroi. The objective is clear: to move up within the professional divisions of Belgian football, and bring the Pro League back to Tondreau 10 years after the disappearance of the “historic” RAEC Mons.
This weekend, no matches in D1 ACFF, like in JPL and CPL, but there will be plenty of football at Tondreau. Albert will host RFC Liège, 9th in the Challenger Pro League, for a free gala match for all subscribers. The match will take place this Saturday, January 4 at 6 p.m.
In its wishes for the New Year, RAEC Mons announces that it wants to celebrate the club’s 115th anniversary in 2025 with a return to the Challenger Pro League, but also to continue to develop its project for the new Stade Tondreau (read here) which has caused so much talk.
In the championship, business will resume a week later for the Montois with a trip on January 12 to Rochefort, 5th in D1 ACFF. Recently, we learned “good” news – at least for Walloon football: in D1 VV, only one club – the U23s of Ghent – have so far requested the license to move up to the Challenger Pro League.
This means that if the young Ghent players fail to finish in the top 6 of D1 VV, two D1 ACFF clubs will move up directly without having to go through the play-offs. We explained that to you here, but you will now have to wait for the deadline for submitting licenses for it to be official…
