Arudy: Bob Loyola gives value to recycled materials

The schoolchild, pedestrian or passing motorist has undoubtedly had this thought one day. It must be said that sculptor Bob Loyola does not hide the result pampered by his fertile imagination…

A self-taught sculptor

On the facades of his home, we find in plain sight a signpost pierced with three arrows and conveniently garnished with pebbles from the Gave, a woodland animal and a raptor trainer undoubtedly from his childhood dreams or of his inventive adult spirit.

This very stylish ensemble already indicates that the place is anything but ordinary!

If surprise wins at first sight, we quickly realize that this self-taught sculptor, worthy heir of a father phenomenon as skillful with a rugby ball or a deck of cards in his hands as with a common object to be valued, deserves respect by the quality of his works.

If you want to know a little better the artistic expression of Bob Loyola, you just have to open the door of his home. No need to have a trained eye to immediately appreciate the best effect of his sculptures made by stacking driftwood (working on abstract shapes and a series of exotic fish at the moment) or assembling different metals by welding.

“Inspiration often comes from very careful observation of objects found on the banks of the Gave, in recycling centers or at friends’ homes,” confides Bob Loyola, happy to have created this small art gallery in his native village.

With this ability to render anything into an ingenious amalgam or a being of known appearance, we can easily assume that people looking for the unusual and sensational will not hesitate to knock on his door.

Visits to Bob Loyola’s workshop/showroom, located at 3 rue Saint-Michel (entrance on the avenue des écoles/place du foirail side) are by appointment by calling 06 21 98 84 87 (let a message if necessary).
