The “salaries” of the little hands of drug trafficking in Marseille and throughout France are now known. The Court of Auditors’ report from last fall even details each activity: ubershit, chouf, … 300 euros per day for a lookout, 1,100 euros per week for a delivery person. And it brings in more in Marseille than in the Paris region.

In a report published in October 2024, the Court of Auditors reviews the various security issues in France’s second city. Marseille is first in terms of homicides, burglaries, vehicle thefts and drug use. Drug trafficking is centralized in the northern neighborhoods, three quarters of the deal points are located there, and nearly 70% of homicides linked to drug trafficking were perpetrated there in 2022.
For three years, shelling of deal points has been the strategy adopted to fight drug trafficking. Although the number of deal points is difficult to estimate, Ofast estimates that it is “went from 161 at the end of 2020 to 149 in March 2022, then to 91 at the end of 2023, a drop of 43% over the entire period“. In this report, the Court of Auditors points out the phenomenon of sales by delivery available 24/7, and the development of traffic on social networks. The “ubershit” phenomenon.
She illustrates with the example of the La Paternelle city, a priority target of police action and the site of multiple assassinations in 2023, which publishes job offers, like a company. And the least we can say is that salaries are attractive and increasing. “€300 per day for a seller, €150 for a lookout, €120 for a tout“, we can read. For a delivery person, the remuneration amounts to 1,100 euros per week, or more than 4,000 euros per month.

For these big guys, we’re around 60,000 euros per day“, explains Rudy Manna. He also specifies that it is in Marseille that the “lookouts“are the best paid in France.”Between 120/150 euros per day, compared to 80 in the Paris region“, he adds.
These kids are paid to yell ‘Arah’ when they see the police. They would rather earn 750 euros per week than go to school.
