After a year 2024 which ended in style with a busy month of December, we therefore very logically inaugurate the list of video game releases for 2025 by focusing on the month of January. And suffice to say that this one is not wearing gloves, with very big titles already to come, before a month of February which promises to be absolutely crazy. So let’s see together what the January 2025 calendar is made of in terms of video games. We also take this opportunity to wish you a very happy new year, full of happiness, success and, naturally, good games!
Great new releases in January 2025 to start the year in style
While waiting to discover what 2025 has in store for us in terms of new video game releases, the year in any case starts strong in January, from its first ten. We can indeed cite Wuthering Waves, a serious competitor to Genshin Impact/Zenless Zone Zero from miHoYo, which will arrive on January 2 on PS5. Our interest is also piqued by Sleight of Hand, an intriguing title combining card game and action/stealth coming January 9 on PC and Xbox Series. The second third of January is not to be outdone in terms of new games to come, including a certain Dynasty Warriors Origins which we are watching with great interest and scheduled for January 17 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series.
The new video game releases for January 2025 finally end with some nice pieces, including Eternal Strands, a very promising Action-RPG developed by veterans of Dragon Age and Ubisoft, Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap, or the Enchantment Under the Sea DLC for the crazy FPS Atomic Heart from Russian studio Mundfish, all three expected on January 28 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. Fans of fighting games will also be able to reconnect with a cult license of the genre with Virtua Fighter 5 REVO, also on January 28, but only on PC. January 30 and 31 will finally see the arrival on PC and consoles of Sniper Elite Resistance and Citizen Sleeper 2, two new games that we are also watching very closely.
A busy month of major PC ports, early access and strong returns
After a first overview focusing on the new video game releases for January 2025, it is appropriate to look at the various PC ports, remasters and other strong returns expected this month. Here again, there are some very good people, starting with Donkey Kong Country Returns HD on January 16 on Switch. The next day, we also remember Tales of Grace F Remastered, expected on PC and consoles. On the early access side, we are awaiting with great interest Hyper Light Breaker, the new game from the talented studio Heart Machine, planned in a first draft on January 14 on PC.
To stay on the PC, ports of big PS5 games will also be in the spotlight in terms of releases in January, with respectively Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on the 23rd, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 on the 30th. Finally, Star Wars fans will be able to (re)discover the popular Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles on PC and consoles on January 23, as well as the first released on mobile Star Wars Hunters on PC on January 27.
