Nearly 1,000 revelers decided to brave the cold and subzero temperatures to improvise an unauthorized New Year's Eve party on the Larzac plateau in Aveyron.
Nearly 1,000 partygoers decided to celebrate under the stars on December 31. And it is on the usual Larzac plateau that they have set their sights, as reported by Midi Libre.
The ravers were installed gradually between Monday December 30 and Tuesday December 31. Nearly 1,500 people were expected between Aveyron and Hérault for a musical night, not far from the A75, near La Couvertoirade.
“Nothing particular, it was rather calm”
The Rave bleu surveillance system was set up by the Aveyron gendarmerie. If the night was festive at the old quarry where all these beautiful people met, “all around the area, there was nothing particular, it was rather calm”, confirms the gendarmerie of Aveyron this Wednesday January 1, 2025. The presence of numerous festival-goers of Spanish and Italian origin was observed.
-Concerns about the cold
As Le Progrès Saint-Affricain points out, the sub-prefect of Millau, Véronique Martin Saint-Léon, went there on the afternoon of December 31 to raise awareness among the organizers of the risks of hypothermia. “A room in L’Hospitalet-du-Larzac has been identified in case there is a need to keep someone warm, because the biggest difficulty is managing the cold.”
In the spring, 5,000 people had already settled
The Aveyron prefecture had already managed such a celebration on the Larzac plateau, near the bicentenary forest. Nearly 5,000 people took part and left no trace at the scene. Following this event, a prefectural decree was issued in Aveyron to prohibit these festivals, from April 26 to May 31, 2024.
