LaLiga Confirms Dani Olmo’s Non-Registration and Removes Him From Its Website

According to the governing body of the League, the Barcelona player is no longer part of the “culé” team after the club failed to find alternatives to improve its financial management.

LaLiga announced in a statement on Tuesday regarding the salary cap for FC Barcelona that “as of December 31, FC Barcelona has not presented any alternative which, in compliance with LALIGA’s economic control regulations, would allow them to register a player from January 2.” Therefore, neither Dani Olmo nor Víctor could be registered.

Before this statement from LaLiga, published shortly after 9 p.m. on the 31st, FC Barcelona had informed that it had requested a new license from the Royal Spanish Federation (RFEF) for the players Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, who had to be registered in LaLiga before January 1.

On the other hand, the Blaugrana entity denied having “requested or received a moratorium from another organization for the registration it seeks.”

The Barcelona club aims to register Olmo and Víctor by handing over the operation of part of the new VIP boxes at Spotify Camp Nou, for which it will earn around 100 million euros.

This means that Barça, in addition to ensuring the continuity of Olmo and Víctor within the first team, could operate at full capacity in the next transfer market. This very Wednesday, players stopped appearing on the official LaLiga website as Barcelona players. On the other hand, Christensen, who was on the sidelines due to injury and had allowed the exceptional recording of Dani Olmo, reappears in the “culé” squad.

During the day of the 31st, Barcelona managed to agree on a 72-hour extension with the RFEF to register Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. If this agreement with the Federation does not materialize, the players, having temporarily lost their license, would not be able to re-register as Barça players and would have to finish the season at another club. However, this commitment would give the entity led by Joan Laporta a little more time to achieve their goal in January.
