OM: Recruited to Real Madrid by Longoria, this former player is retiring!

Former OM striker, Pedro Ruiz Delgado, has just retired at… 24 years old.

Crushing the youth categories is not necessarily synonymous with a great career later… Many players have had difficulty breaking into the professional ranks and this is the case of Pedro Ruiz Delgado. Recruited to Real Madrid by OM in 2021, Pedro Ruiz Delgado did not leave a great memory with supporters. It’s normal, he hasn’t played a single match…

Often injured, the Spanish striker played a few matches with the Olympian reserve. The latter was loaned in 2022 to NEC Nijmegen, in the Netherlands. But he made the crosses after 3 matches… Lots of bad luck in the career of Pedro Ruiz Delgado who has just announced the end of his career at the age of 24, a few months after freely leaving OM.

The one who was vice World Champion with Spain in U17 left a long message on his Instagram. “The time has come to start a new path, including that of a footballer,” first launched the 24-year-old Spaniard who justified his decision by repeated injuries. He claimed to have never truly recovered from his cruciate ligaments in 2020.

(…) I particularly thank Real Madrid and OM who also suffered from my injuries. They spent many hours with me. They know it, thank you for helping me”, he explained in his long message.

“I wanted to have a special mention for an OM doctor, Abdou Sbihi (orthopedic surgeon and traumatologist) and President Pablo Longoria”he said. “In the worst period of my life psychologically, they showed immense heart,” concluded by Pedro Ruiz Delgado.
