Paula Sevilla and Herminia Parra crowned the event by receiving the prestigious ‘Villa de La Solana’ award, the highest honor of the night.
The ‘Tomás Barrera’ theater celebrated one of its most emblematic evenings: the Local Sports Gala, which is in its thirteenth edition. With a packed house, the most outstanding athletes of 2024 were honored. Paula Sevilla and Herminia Parra put the finishing touches to the evening by receiving the ‘Villa de La Solana’ award, but many others were also recognized in various sporting disciplines and age categories. It is clear that La Solana continues to be the birthplace of many talented athletes.
Hosted by Adrián Osuna, the gala began with remarks from Sports Councilor Juan Francisco Marín, who congratulated the winners and highlighted the great moment local sport is experiencing, with established figures and emerging talents ready to shine under little. This ‘good health’ was quickly demonstrated to the public. A video showcasing all the athletes excelling in school sport, individually and in teams, was released. The advisors for Sports, Juan Francisco Marín, for Social Welfare, Toñi Ramos, and for Economic Promotion, Santiago López, took the stage to present a wide range of medals. Sports like Football, basketball, track and field and karate have received special recognition.

The last segment was reserved for the ‘Villa de La Solana’ prize, which this year was awarded jointly to two winners. Athletes Paula Sevilla and Herminia Parra received the highest honor of the gala for obvious reasons. Both sprinters have achieved some of the highest goals at national and international levels. Hermi Parra, on the one hand, represented Spain at the World Championships in the Bahamas in the 4×400 relay. Very grateful for this award, she took the opportunity to highlight the role of sport as a tool for personal and social progress, calling for more investment in athlete support and better infrastructure.
Furthermore, Paula Sevilla deserved recognition after a dream season. In addition to being world champion and national runner-up in the 200 meters, she finished her summer as an Olympian in Paris with the Spanish 4×100 relay. She also expressed her gratitude and reminded everyone that success can be achieved through hard work and perseverance, sending a message to the youth to value the power of discipline.
