This Sunday, Fredrik Moeller won the Super-G in Bormio and scored his first World Cup victory. The young Norwegian notably beat Vincent Kriechmayr and Alexis Monney.
Young people clearly took power this weekend in Italy. Indeed, the day after Alexis Monney’s surprise victory during the downhill, This time it was Fredrik Moeller who won the Super-G in Bormio. This Sunday, the young Norwegian (24 years old) made a strong impression and scored his first World Cup victory, having finished 4th twice this season (during the Super-Gs in Beaver Creek and Val Gardena in December) . In 1’29”22, Moeller beat the competition and finished ahead of the Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr (at 0”20), while Monney confirmed his current good form by taking 3rd place (at 0”24 ). On the other hand, great disappointment for Marco Odermatt only 5th (at 0”45), his worst result in Super-G for a year and a half. The Swiss, however, narrowly retains the red bib as leader of the discipline (205 points against 200 for Moeller).
Two French people in the top 10
On the French side, if Alexis Pinturault, ill for several days, preferred not to start this Sunday, two of his compatriots were able to shine in Bormio. After finishing 10th on Saturday during the downhill, Nils Allègre continued his good start to the season by finishing 8th in the Super-G. The Frenchman is followed by Florian Loriot (9th)he who had never done better than 17th in this discipline in the past. Before that, the race had started very badly with the big fall of the Swiss Gino Caviezel (bib number 1), who had to be evacuated by helicopter. A new incident after the one which affected Cyprien Sarrazin on Friday, during training. Now time for a little rest for all these beautiful people before meeting them again at the beginning of 2025 for a slalom in Madonna di Campiglio (January 8).
