The Vancouver-Fraser Port Authority says a machinery fire in Delta that started Saturday morning has been extinguished.

According to a written statement from the Port Authority, a coal stacker caught fire at a facility operated by Westshore Terminals.

Operations at the coal terminal and facilities operated by GCT Deltaport have been temporarily interrupted.

Delta firefighters arrived at the scene of the fire immediatelyspecifies the statement. The Port Authority says no one was injured and Westshore Terminals continues to manage the situation with the Delta firefighters.

Thick black smoke coming from the machines could be seen from the Tsawwassen ferry terminal.
