At least 28 people were killed in a landing plane crash on Sunday (December 29) at an airport in the southwest of the Republic of Korea, according to the Yonhap news agency and local television station. YTN.

The airliner carrying 175 passengers and six crew members crashed while trying to land at Muan International Airport, about 290 km from the capital Seoul, at around 9:07 a.m. local time (00:07 GMT ).
Jeju Air flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand, went off the runway and crashed into the exterior wall. Its fuselage was cut in two and caught fire.
The accident was believed to have been caused by a collision with birds which led to a malfunction of the landing gear.
The fire was extinguished some 43 minutes later, with around 80 firefighters dispatched to the scene.
Police and firefighters were working on the rescue operations from the rear of the aircraft.
