Star Academy – Fanny Delaigue: “It's important that students don't forget that singing is work”

It's now been two months since you joined the show's professorial camp. How did the integration go?

Fanny Delaigue : Alright ! Already, because I am lucky enough to be paired with Lucie (Bernardoni, editor's note), who welcomed me with open arms. I've been through a lot in my life, but nothing as intense as these last few months. It's a lot of work, because you have to put on a show in three days, every week, and it's very stimulating to do more and better for the students.

“Star Academy is a continuation of what I love”

Outside of the castle, you are notably a vocal coach and singing teacher…

It's true. Star Academy is a continuation of what I like, in terms of skills. But here, I do five jobs at once! There's vocal coaching, performance, arranging, music theory… And a little psychology, of course. Lucie and I spend a lot of time with the students, it is with us that they vent their emotions. Sometimes you also have to reframe them! It's important that they don't forget that singing is work.

Is it true that you attended one of the Star Academy concerts when you were younger?

Yes, and it was Lucie's season (in 2004)! It was my mom who took me there. I was 13 years old and had stars in my eyes. But I realized late that the stage could be a real profession.
