Alpine skiing – Semmering: Imperial, Federica Brignone wins her 2nd giant of the season

She finally reconciled with Semmering. In six giant starts in the World Cup, the Italian had not managed to do better than 4th place in 2022. This time, she closed the gate and gave a ski lesson to Sara Hector , who was waiting helplessly at the bottom of the track. The 34-year-old skier completed the perfect round to finally win the championship in the Austrian resort. She therefore pushed back her runner-up, the Swede Sara Hector, to 57 hundredths. The New Zealander, Alice Robinson completes the podium (+0″90), after her second place obtained in Sölden, already behind the merciless Brignone.

“It wasn't an easy second round, but I really wanted that first podium here in Semmering. I felt really good today, I really wanted to fight, but I was relaxed,” reacted the one who dominates the ranking of giantists, ahead of Camille Rast. The Swiss performed the wrong operation since she only obtained a 17th place. Among the French, the day was complicated since only Clara Direz had obtained her ticket for the second round. The skier from Les Saisies could not do better than 26th place (+3″89) and even had a mishap while crossing the line.

The Habs lost control of their skis and ended their race in the protection surrounding the finish area. After sitting for a few minutes, she was able to get up and recover from this bad day, which she quickly forgot.
