With 24 Grand Slam titles, Novak Djokovic has a well-stocked list of achievements which was further expanded with his victory last summer at the Olympic Games.

The Serb, who will be 38 next May, has however shown signs of slowing down in 2024.

However, he remains determined to enrich his record a little further, in particular by aiming for a 25th Grand Slam title. Former German player Andrea Petkovic shared a clear view of the situation in Rennae Stubbs' podcast: “My prediction for Novak is that he won't care about tournaments at all, except for the Open. Australia and Wimbledon.

He's going to make a huge effort with everything he has left in his body. He will do everything he can to win one of these tournaments, try to reach 25, and then retire.”

Currently ranked 7th player in the world, he is preparing for the Australian Open, a tournament where he reigns supreme. With already 10 trophies in its purse, Melbourne is the scene of its finest performances. For Petkovic, this would be the perfect opportunity to bow out: “We obviously know that this is the tournament where he plays his best tennis. The fact that he has won the Australian Open 10 times is simply mind-boggling.

The only person in the same category is Rafa, who has won Roland Garros 14 times. I'm not kidding, if he wins the Australian Open, I'd like him to stop.”

The choice now belongs to Novak Djokovic. Will he wish to extend his quest for excellence or conclude in apotheosis?
