2nd visit at 1 p.m.
The Italian Brignone took the lead at half-time on the “panoramic slope” with her usual offensive route. On the course set by her trainer Giorgio Pavoni, she beat the competition by 15 hundredths or more.
Lara Gut-Behrami got closer to the winner from Sölden. The 33-year-old from Ticino showed great improvement compared to the giant slalom in Killington and is aiming for a 46th World Cup victory after halftime. Sara Hector ranks in 3rd intermediate place. The leader of the discipline’s ranking lost 24 hundredths against Brignone.
Camille Rast, in great form recently, was cautious. The overall leader and third-place finisher from Killington was only able to follow in the upper part of the course. After that, she continued to lose time and was 1.88 seconds behind at the finish. Wendy Holdener was about two tenths behind Rast. Like her teammate, the Schwyzoise was quick at the top, but lost a lot of time afterwards.
Simone Wild also competed in the second round. The 31-year-old is 2.45 seconds behind in 24th place. Vanessa Kaspar (37th), Stefanie Grob (41st) and Janine Schmitt (54th) missed the final of the top 30 drivers. Delphine Darbellay was eliminated, as was Mélanie Meillard. (ram/sda)
HC Fribourg-Gottéron has never been Swiss champion and has not yet made a great impression this season. But perhaps Freiburg will benefit from the momentum of the Spengler Cup.
In Davos, Gottéron made an excellent impression in his first two appearances against Europe’s top teams – 2:3 against Pardubice and 6:4 against Kärpät Oulu.
