The government announced on Friday, December 27, a significant increase in the tax exemption ceilings for home-work transport assistance. These measures, applicable from January 1, 2025, aim to support the purchasing power of employees in the face of increasing travel costs.
An increase in fuel premiums
The fuel premium sees its tax exemption ceiling increase from 200 to 300 euros per year. This bonus, intended to compensate for employees' fuel costs, was increased to 400 euros in 2022 and 2023 due to the surge in hydrocarbon prices, before being reduced to 200 euros in 2024. This new increase aims to respond to workers' concerns about still high travel costs.
A boost for electric vehicles
To encourage the ecological transition, the government has also decided to increase the exemption ceiling from charging bonus for electric vehicles. This goes from 500 to 600 euros per yearallowing employee owners of electric vehicles to benefit from increased support for their charging costs.
Soft mobility and valued public transport
The sustainable mobility packageintended for employees using gentle modes of transport such as cycling, also sees its exemption ceiling increase. From now on, the accumulation of this package with a public transport subscription will be able to reach 900 euros per yearcompared to 800 euros previously. This measure reflects a desire to encourage environmentally friendly mobility practices, while financially supporting those who adopt them.
Support adapted to current issues
These adjustments are part of a broader policy of supporting purchasing power, while promoting sustainable mobility. With fuel and energy prices constantly changing, these measures offer a certain flexibility to employees to choose their mode of transport according to their needs and their budget.
