The forty-year-old suspected of being the author of the fatal shooting which occurred on Monday in a bar in the Corsican city was imprisoned on Friday. The funeral of the victim is due to take place this Saturday, December 28.

A man suspected of the fatal shooting against a firefighter in a busy bar in the center of on Monday evening was indicted on Friday December 27 for murder and intentional violence and imprisoned, we learned from the Ajaccio public prosecutor’s office. Six people were also injured in the shooting at the Le Lamparo bar.

After fleeing, the suspect, in his forties, finally went to the police station on Christmas Day. His lawyers, Mes Philippe Gatti and Paul Sollacaro, did not wish to make comments on Friday evening.

The accused is already known to the courts. In June 2016, he appeared before the Bouches-du-Rhône Assize Court, in Aix-en-Provence, which sentenced him to 30 months in prison for receiving a vehicle and acquitted him of criminal association in the trial of the assassination of Yves Manunta, killed on July 9, 2012 in Ajaccio.

“Significant risk of recurrence”
