► Hospital director detained according to Gaza health authorities
The Health Ministry of the Hamas government in Gaza and the local Civil Defense affirmed on Saturday December 28 that Israel was detaining the director of a key hospital in the north of the Palestinian territory. “The (Israeli) occupying forces took dozens of medical staff from Kamal Adwan Hospital, including Dr. Hossam Abou Safiya, to a detention center for interrogation”the ministry said in a press release.
The Israeli army, which did not wish to comment on the information, announced that it had launched an operation against Hamas fighters near this hospital. In a press release, she described the establishment as “stronghold of terrorist organizations (…) used as a hiding place by terrorists”which denies “categorically” Hamas.
► The last major hospital in northern Gaza “out of service”
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), Kamal Adwan, until now the last major operational hospital in northern Gaza, is « hors service » after an Israeli raid against Hamas fighters near this establishment. “This morning’s raid on Kamal Adwan Hospital put this last major health center in northern Gaza out of service”located in Beit Lahia, denounced the World Health Organization (WHO) on X. “Initial reports indicate that key services were set on fire and destroyed during the raid. Sixty healthcare workers and 25 patients are in critical condition”adds the international organization, whose headquarters is in Geneva.
As of Friday morning, the hospital housed around 350 people, including 75 injured and sick, as well as 180 medical staff, according to the director of the establishment.
► New air strike on Sanaa, the capital of Yemen
A new airstrike targeted the Yemeni capital Sanaa on Friday, said the Houthi rebels, who had earlier claimed missile and drone attacks against Israel. The perpetrator of the attack, also reported by witnesses, has not yet been clearly identified but the Houthis speak of a “American and British aggression”.
