Reddy came out to bat at No. 8 for India and, with the help of four fours and a six, crossed the 50-run mark in 81 balls. He scored his first Test half-century for India when the team was in deep trouble and looking ahead.
After completing his maiden Test fifty, Nitish organized Pushpa's celebration, and BCCI's official X handle also took inspiration from the film by captioning the message “Flower nahi, fire hai”.
“Nitish Kumar Reddy reminisces about his first 50 Test cricket matches and sparks the iconic celebration,” the BCCI tweeted.
“Flower nahi, fire hai” is an iconic dialogue of Tollywood actor Allu Arjun in the film Pushpa, the second part of which is currently making headlines in India.
Nitish's knock in the ongoing match is not only appreciated by the BCCI but also by many fans, experts and former greats of the game.
Here is an overview:
Reddy took the field on Saturday to bat at No. 8 after Rishabh Pant was sent back to the pavilion by Scott Boland. By the time Reddy arrived on the field, India were 84 runs away from avoiding the follow-up. He first partnered Ravindra Jadeja (17) and added 30 runs for the seventh wicket with him.
After the world's No. 1 Test all-rounder was trapped in front of the wickets by Nathan Lyon in the morning session of the third day's match, Reddy found a partner in Washington Sundar, and the duo added over 80 runs so far for the eighth wicket to help India cross the 300-run mark for the second time in the ongoing series.
