On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the attacks perpetrated against the editorial staff of Charlie HebdoCarole Delga is organizing a week of tribute, exchange and artistic expression in , from January 7 to 11, 2025. The President of the Region wishes to reaffirm her attachment to freedom of expression, a fundamental value of the Republic, while by honoring the memory of the victims.

Tuesday January 7:

  • 11:30 a.m. : Collection in the Regional Hotels in and , as well as in regional buildings (not open to the press).
  • 18h : Launch of the exhibition “Selected drawings from Border Line” on the square in front of the Hôtel de Région in Montpellier, in partnership with the Press Club.
  • 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. : Projections and artistic performances at Regional Hotels:
  • Part 1: “Attack on Charlie Hebdo: Defending press freedom”.
  • Live performance by MAN, newspaper cartoonist Free Middaywith his drawings projected on the facade of the Hôtel de Région in Montpellier.

Wednesday January 8:

  • 12h : Opening of the “Border Line” exhibition at Gare Saint-Roch, in partnership with the Press Club and the SNCF.
  • 16h12 : Departure of the train from Montpellier to Toulouse (arrival 7:06 p.m.) with cartoonists on board to raise public awareness of caricature.

  • Live performance by Xavier Gorce, designer and illustrator, with drawings projected on the Hôtel de Région in Toulouse.
  • 18h : Launch of the “Charlie’s Humor” exhibition in Toulouse, in partnership with the “Draw, Create, Liberté” association, followed by a large gathering in tribute to the victims.

Saturday January 11:

  • 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. : Latest screenings at the Hôtels de Région showing the four parts of the previous events.

A special issue for young people

On the occasion of this commemoration, a special issue of Journal of My Region is dedicated to young people aged 13 to 18. This supplement, produced in partnership with the Occitanie Region, addresses the themes of freedom of expression, satire and the limits of the press, while raising awareness of the issues of social networks.

With a print run of 3 million copies, this special issue will be distributed to mailboxes in Occitanie.
